Just a reminder that all class members are expected to read and discuss all assigned readings tonight. The pieces in BEERS are short–but compelling. I just used Appleman’s observations about adolescents and reading to think about the freedom writers’ experience of reading and writing in Erin Gruwell’s classes for example.
The dense texts are of course the Yagelski and to some extent, the Kelly. I will especially ask that you have annotated Yagelski very very carefully.
I look for more posts and/or comments on his essay.
Don’t forget BOOK CLUB tonight–please bring the book you are currently reading for review.
